Payment methods available at South African online casinos
Method Deposit speed Withdraw? Notes
Instant EFT Seconds Yes, to bank account Authorises a payment straight from your online banking. The default for most South African players and the one we would choose.
Ozow Seconds Usually via EFT Instant-EFT provider covering the major South African banks. Deposits clear immediately; withdrawals typically route back as a standard EFT.
SID Instant EFT Seconds Usually via EFT The other widely supported instant-EFT provider. Functionally similar to Ozow — which one you use depends on the operator.
Capitec Pay Seconds Via EFT Authorised inside the Capitec app rather than by entering banking credentials on a third-party page. The cleanest flow available if you bank with Capitec.
FNB eWallet Seconds Sometimes Useful where supported, particularly for players without a card. Availability is operator-specific.
Card (Visa / Mastercard) Instant in, slow out Yes, but slower Deposits are immediate; refunds to card commonly take three to five business days on top of the operator's own processing. Some South African issuers decline gambling merchant codes outright.
Bitcoin Minutes Yes Bypasses the banking system entirely, which helps when card payments are declined. Adds an exchange step and exposes you to price movement while funds are in transit.
Standard EFT 1–2 business days Yes The slow, reliable fallback. Fine for withdrawals, frustrating for deposits when instant options exist.

What each casino supports

Deposit with the method you want to be paid back through

This is the single most useful habit on this page. Anti-money-laundering rules generally require withdrawals to return by the route the money arrived on, at least up to the amount deposited. Deposit by card and your first withdrawal goes back to that card, which adds three to five business days on top of the operator's own processing.

Deposit by instant EFT and the return route is your bank account, which is both faster and simpler. Unless you have a specific reason to use a card, instant EFT is the better choice in both directions.

Verification, and getting it out of the way

Every licensed operator will ask for identity documents before releasing a withdrawal — typically an ID document, proof of address and, where a card was used, confirmation of the card. This is not a delaying tactic, it is a regulatory requirement, and it applies whether you deposited or won on no-deposit credit.

Do it on the day you register rather than on the day you want your money. Verification is the most common cause of a withdrawal that appears stuck, and it is entirely within your control.

For what happens after verification clears, see how long withdrawals really take.

Banking questions

Which deposit method is fastest?

Instant EFT, Ozow, SID and Capitec Pay all clear in seconds and cost nothing. Cards are equally fast going in but noticeably slower coming back out, which is why we suggest depositing by instant EFT if you intend to withdraw to a bank account.

Why was my card declined?

Several South African issuers decline transactions carrying a gambling merchant category code, and it is a blanket policy rather than a problem with your account. If that happens, instant EFT usually works because it is an ordinary bank payment rather than a card transaction.

Can I withdraw to a different method than I deposited with?

Usually not, at least for the first withdrawal. Anti-money-laundering rules generally require funds to return by the route they arrived, up to the amount deposited. Anything above that may be paid to a bank account. Choosing a deposit method you are happy to be paid back through saves a great deal of friction.

Are there fees?

Operators in our list generally do not charge for deposits, and most do not charge for withdrawals either — though some apply a fee below a minimum threshold or on more than one withdrawal per week. Your bank may levy its own EFT charge. The real cost to watch is currency conversion at multi-currency operators, which our rand casinos guide covers.
